June 1999 Wis Central Motorcar Excursion

Page Two

We set on in Rhinelander, Wisconsin at the Wisconsin Central engine house. It was a cool morning for this time of year, but that was not as much of a problem as the rain we have had during some other events. About 22 motorcar operators showed up with their passengers, one operator even brought his hy-rail truck.

We started the morning off at 8:00 AM with our safety briefing. This safety briefing is mandatory. We discuss some of the hazards we may encounter along the way. Because of rail traffic in the area, we were not allowed to set on until the Bradley turn departed. Following the safty meeting there was a motorcar safety check. We departed eastward at approximately 9:30 AM.

Because of rail traffic, we had to alter our plans slightly. We travaled east to Argonne, took a break at the wye and returned to Rhinelander for lunch.
