North Central Railcars, Ltd. is pleased to announce a 5-day motor car excursion on the Canadian National Railway (and ex-Athabasca Northern Railway) in northeastern Alberta’s remote, Oil Sands Region.

This excursion is planned to run the week before the GWR excursion in Saskatchewan. We will operate between Gibbons, AB (just north of Edmonton) and Fort McMurray, AB with overnight stays in Lac La Biche (2 nights) and Fort McMurray (2 nights).

Wednesday (June 18), will be a “day off” in Fort McMurray to explore the town, visit the Oil Sands Discovery Center, and enjoy some time on your own. The excursion will cover approximately 530 rail miles.

The excursion fee is estimated to be approximately $900 (CDN) or $1000 (USD) and should be firmed up by January 31, 2008. The excursion fee will cover the railroad cost, overnight hotel accommodations for 4 nights (2 in Lac La Biche, 2 in Fort McMurray), ground transportation between the rail yard and hotel in Fort McMurray and other miscellaneous excursion costs.

Registration materials, complete details, itinerary, and maps will be sent when pricing details are confirmed. All participants must have and wear CN required safety gear, including steel toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses and hy-vis vests.

This is a NARCOA insured excursion and NARCOA rules apply. There is a 25 car limit.

North Central Railcars, Ltd. is pleased to announce a 5-day motor car excursion on the Great Western Railway in the rolling hills of southern Saskatchewan. This trip will follow the CN/ANY excursion in Alberta and includes some new GWR mileage. The trip will run between Assiniboia and Ogema (the former Red Coat Road and Rail), Assiniboia and Coronach, SK (ex-CP Fife Lake Sub) and between Assiniboia and Consul, SK. The trip will cover approximately 600 rail miles.

The excursion fee of $325 (CDN) or $350 (USD) covers the railroad fee and miscellaneous excursion costs.

Participants will need to make their own lodging arrangements in Assiniboia (June 22, 23 & 24) and Shaunavon, SK (June 25 & 26). For those interested in making the trip, please contact the excursion coordinator for a list of potential hotels. Lodging is limited, so please reserve rooms early if you plan to attend.
